Job Position: Substitute Classroom Aide

Location: Beaverton, Big Rapids, Clare, Farwell, Gladwin, Harrison

Responsible To: Preschool Teacher

General Responsibilities: Assist in the daily operation of the preschool program including lunch and bus aide duties. Protect the privacy of customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.

Specific Duties:

• Assist in program planning and implementation of scheduled activities
• Supervise daily activities of children to address the four basic areas of development: physical, emotional, intellectual and social
• Make all efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of every child in care
• Promote family involvement in program
• Pick up and deliver lunches to the site; return insulated carriers and serving items to the school kitchen; use of personal vehicle is required
• Assist in the serving of meals to children
• Assist in the supervision of children during meals
• Be able to perform as an effective team member and promote positive concepts in the classroom
• Increase personal knowledge of job-related skills by attending workshop training sessions
• Attend community meetings and events as needed to support MMCAA programs
• Collect in-kind donations
• Assist in recruiting of children for MMCAA's 3-5 programs
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Qualifications:

• Shall be of responsible character and suitable to work with young children
• Must be 18 years of age or older and have experience working with young children

Additional Requirements:

• Must have proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer)
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, provide proof of insurance as well as pass State Police criminal clearance check and MMCAA's insurance carriers driving record review
• Successfully complete criminal history and child abuse/neglect clearance procedures at time of hire and when requested at any time during employment
• Shall provide written report by a physician stating their physical capability and freedom from communicable tuberculosis
• Must be able to lift and carry a 45 pound child in an emergency situation
• Must be physically capable of performing CPR (with appropriate training).
• Must be able to work at the same level as preschool child-bend, sit on floor or child's chair, squat
